updated 12:35 pm EDT, Mon May 21, 2001
FireWireDirect is now shipping its second-generation FireWire RAID storage system, which offers a cluster of two, four, or eight hard drives. The RAID solution uses the "powerful and speedy" Oxford 911 FireWire chipset, and allows users to individually check for drive availability and configure the unit for both RAID Level 0 and 1 (striping and mirroring). Prices range for $895 (2 bay, 120GB) to $3,595 (8 bay, 480GB).
