PopTop Software President Phil Steinmeyer told MacNN today that the Mac version of its strategy/simulation game, Tropico, is progressing well. "We have the game up and running in Mac OS 9 and are working on getting it running on Mac OS X." He also noted that the game is expected to reach golden master in early June, and will be published by MacSoft, not by Gathering of Developers, as had been previously announced.

Yes, the company is working on Carbonizing the application. It should be much easier now with Mac OS X 10.0.2 and the addition of DrawSprocket for handling resolution changes. As long as they don't hit any walls, it should go fairly smoothly...
In case you've been living in a closet for the past year, you'll know that Tropico is one of the most exciting game releases in years. Here's hoping that as many Mac users as possible pick up a copy to demonstrate there is still life left in the Mac as a gaming platform.
This game is on my list of must-buy games. As soon as it's released, you can bet I'm picking it up, especially since it'll be carbonized.
