Eskape's myTV OS X drivers

updated 11:40 am EDT, Tue May 8, 2001

Sandeep Khandelwal let us know that Eskape Labs is currently working on new Classic and Mac OS X drivers for its MyTV/fm USB external tuner and input device. The company hopes to release the drivers in beta form in the August/September timeframe, and the first release will likely not include the VCR features.

What about their WinTV cards? Drivers for OS X exist in open-source from (the AppleBT8xx project on Apple's CVS servers), however it is far from perfect? Any chance of them contributing to the project or releasing their own?

    Oops

Ok, so technically, Eskape Labs doesn't make the WinTV cards, their parent company Hauppauge does...

    Otherwise

this TV tuner sucks becuase of no closed captioning supports.. They won't include or support that features at all. A CLEAR violation of ADA Law since it is like a tv.. ATI;s TV Tuners or Formac's TV Tuners does support closed captioning and transcript recording.. a great features.. like if you are watching CNN and you want to transcript then use captioning technology and use hot words to catch.. check out other two sites. .I know Mac os X supports are unknown though..

    From the FAQ:

What are your plans for improving the EskapeTV application?

The EskapeTV application will have periodic updates that will add the following features: Automatic Channel Scanning, Timer Record Features, Tele-Text for Europe, and Closed Captioning for the US.
