Following recent price cuts by Palm, Handspring has lowered the price of its Visor Deluxe from $250 to $200 and is offering a free leather case with the PDA. Also, a $50 mail-in-rebate on the Visor Platinum ($250 after rebate) is being offered through June 17.

    Specs?

Why can't someone put up an overall Specs page, to illustrate all the capacities and features of every model of PalmOS PDA (both from Palm and from others such as Handspring and Sony) as they are released? Is the Visor Platinum "flash ROM upgradable" to the newest Palm OS? There should be a features table to make these things clear.

    justify

I can't justify the price of one these things, useful as they may be they are no substitute for a laptop... if they were reasonably priced, say $100-150 for a mid-range model and $200-250 for the top of the line models perhaps I'd think of buying one... they still seem rather pricey at this point in time...

Oh put a sock in it. Why don't you get you mommy to buy you one. All you whiners complaining about how everything is too expensive, why don't you stop wasting your money on Starbucks Coffee for a month. Oh wait, you're probably too young to be drinking coffee. Ok, stop wasting money on pokemon cards...

Whatever, just grow up and stop whining already.

Handspring has a spec page for each of their models which compares it to the comparable models from Palm and Sony.

    flash ROM and justify

None of the Visor handhelds (including Platinum) are flash ROM upgradable. The newest models come with a Handspring modified version of Palm OS 3.5. I have a Prism and it doesn't bother me one bit that I can't change the OS. 3.5 serves me just fine and there hasn't been anything that I can't do with it. To be honest, it's more of a hardship being a Mac owner since there are tons of conduits for Windows platforms and hardly any for the Mac desktop. And no one ever said that the PDA is a laptop substitute. I can sit in a restaurant and quickly look up a phone number or jot down a note. I can play a game while waiting 10 minutes in doctor's office and then put the thing back in my purse. Try that with a laptop.

    Really!

I mean, that poster that "can't justify the price" made a reasoned post... What is it with chumps that have to attack people for their opinions? It is more than obvious who the child is, Mr. "Put a Sock in it"... You, clown! Some people are very close with their money even when they have plenty of it.

    Price & Utility

I find my Visor to be one of the most useful items I've ever purchased. It was more than worth the money to me.
