It was never free for all

Fetch hasn't been free to all users since around '92 or so. Educational users could use it for free (they still can, BTW), but non-students/faculty were supposed to pay. However, since Dartmouth distributed Fetch as a fully functional app, tons of non-educational users used it without paying. Now that the creator has taken over development and distribution, he wants to get paid for his work. What nerve, huh?

    Sickening

I'm sickened and disgusted by the $25 fee. The programmer who wrote Fetch just won $500,000 on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and now I guess he wants to make up the other $500k so he can REALLY be a millionaire.

    get real

$25 for an excellent app. that I use often ? What's the problem?
When's the last time you bought ANY software, or do you pirate it all?

Keep using the old version if you're such a cheap b******!!!

    $25

Twenty-five bucks buys you a better FTP app. Fetch is too basic to justify the price. Just wait a couple of months until Macworld.

    Cheap Skates

I can't believe you people can moan about paying $25 for something someone has obviously put a huge amount of effort into. Why do you expect the creator of Fetch to give his time for free? I don't see that his personal finance situation has anything to do with whether he should charge for his current work.

    Fetch is insecure.

Fetch needs to evolve into the era of non-clear-text password transmission and support ssh, so that not just passwords, but the entire transmission is encrypted.

    $25-Guy! Whoa! Tell Me Th

Hey $25.00 Poster, okay, I'm not asking for the everything, but could you at least tell us if this up coming FTP app. will be completely native (Cocoa)? Plus I wish that Yftp was available for OS-X. It suited my simple needs for any FTP'ing.

    When?

When is Apple going to add FTP to the damn Finder? Its silly that you have to use anything at all.
