El Gato Software, the original creator of Toast and the company that created Toast 5 for Roxio, has released iTunes CD-RW Helper, freeware which lets owners of some CD-RWs currently unsupported by Apple's iTunes and Disc Burner to use the popular applications. iTunes CD-RW requires Roxio Toast 5.0.1 (Lite or Titanium), OS 9.1, Disc Burner 1.0.1 and iTunes 1.1.

    Stay On It!! (The Topic)

FYI, with iTunes Helper, my (too) new Que!Fire 1610A works like a charm with Finder 9.1.1 (DiscBurner) and iTunes.

    Congrats, El Gato!!

    It was called for..

I didn't write that message - but c'mon - this itunes patcher is awesome (I use it and love it - now my Que drive works!!) but I agree that its lame that someone from the company is trying to publicize and market themselves on a forum posing to be a "customer" - and learn how to spell - its CRITICIZE.

    Well...

I tend to agree with some of the comments, that really does look like myself or somebody in my company is trying to create PR at all cost, plus it's not entirely accurate. I'm not comfortable with that. I appreciate the kind words, but I did ask macnn staff to remove the "history lesson".

    "Original developers"?!

I'm confused about El Gato software calling themselves the "original developers and owners of Toast". When I first used Toast in 1996 it was developed and owned by Astarte, a German company that still exists today. Did the people who developed Toast leave Astarte and start a new company in California or is there some kind of historical revisionism going on?

    Astarte was the publisher

My good friends at Astarte did not own any Toast related IP, they were the publisher. Toast was developed and owned by Miles Software GmbH (do an Option-About on an older Toast version if you still have one lying around), which in turn was and is owned by myself. I sold Toast to Adaptec in February of 1997, the core team went to work for Adaptec for a while and is now at El Gato.

    SD Split Stero files?

How Can I burn CDs using music saved as split stereo files (The standard ProTools format) typically with .L and .R suffixes?

    Use Jam

for those split stereo files. Just drag them in. Jam is another product by Roxio and can be purchased from their web site.
