    gotcha

Note this device has only one Firewire port and one USB port. That's a pretty big deficiency.

    my review

This wasn't exactly released "today". I got the case kit about 2 weeks ago. The size is nice, but the plastic seems like it could easily crack. The blue sides you see in the photo are thin sheets of rubber that attach to the case with small "plugs"; one is too big for its hole, leaving a small bulge, and a couple are a bit too small, so the rubber will come unattached unless handled with care.

On the good side, the kit comes with a FireWire cable, a USB cable, and a power supply. Other cases I considered, costing $10 - $20 more, didn't come with any of these things!

    Don't Buy!

I would strngly advise anyone that they should NOT be buying anything from this company. I bought one of their combo FW/USB cards and discovered several weeks later that I could no longer get a complete print on my Epson printer. I did ALL sorts of tricks (to the tune of 4+ hours of futzing) and determined it was the card that was at fault. Wrote them. 4-5 days later I got an e-mail admitting that they KNEW this was a problem and that they were working on a driver update.

That was 3-4 MONTHS ago. No update, no functionality. I have (politely) written 4 or 5 times since then asking for some kind of idea of when.. absolutely none of my e-mails has been answered.

BUYER BEWARE ordering ANYTHING from this company. I've now got to go out an buy another fricking card because it's clear they are NOT going to deal with this issue.. not to mention originally shipping a product they KNEW didn't work with a USB Epson printer (BTW, I have a cheapy old USB only PCI card that worked FLAWLESSLY with the Epson, but I have some FW devices now so I'm stuck with having to buy another combo card).

    Avoid these spammers

I saw this note and said "where have I heard about this company before?" Then I remembered. I've got a couple ads from these guys in my FreeBSD mailing list inboxes--they've spammed several of them just today.

I don't buy from spammers, and you probably don't want to either.
