Blizzard Entertainment has opened a second Battle.net realm for serving Diablo II customers in the Asia Pacific region, "Asia 2".

The new realm doubles the capacity of the Battle.net gaming service for its Asian customers, who have often resorted to using USWest and other realms due to the overcapacitated status of the Asia servers. The company has committed to continually improving the performance and reliability of its Battle.net service as it prepares for the release of expansion set Diablo II: Lord of Destruction this summer.

Will this new battle.net server host Starcraft and Warcraft 2 B.net edition games?

    Relocation Project?

That's great as far as it goes, but what about all the Asia people who already have characters on US-West? Will they be relocated? And what about all the new users in Asia? Won't they want to play with their friends that have characters on US-West? I don't see this as being much of a help unless Blizzard makes a serious effort to relocate users/accounts based on their physical location. Otherwise, US-West will just stay totally clogged. A quick check on any week night will show that 75-95% of all D2 games are on US-West. How is Blizzard going to re-balance that load?

    synchronizing

I think battle.net servers synchronize user accounts every once in a while. The accounts are not a problem.
