Same stuff as before! What did they do, find them in a warehouse somewhere?

Hey, keep checking guys, there might be a crate with the lost Ark of the Covenant in there too....

    No AppleCare

Most importantly, remember that Apple recently changed their policies - refurb products, even those bought through Apple, are not eligible for AppleCare.

    90 day warranty?

90 days AND no applecare? That's a joke! You better make up a couple phony problems during those 90 days so that when something goes wrong later you can say that the problem started during the 90 days and that you have a case # already... :P

I'm wondering why they have so little faith in their refurbished products. I mean you PAY for applecare, but they won't even let you do that!

If its possible, i'd recommend buying these through a third party (like MacMall). I got a 5-year warranty for my iBook 466 for $300 through them! If anything breaks, they send FedEx to pick it up on their bill... doesn't get much better than that...

    My experience

I bought a refurb G4/DP/450 and a 15" studio display from the Apple Store last time around. Products had a built on date of just a day or two after I ordered them. Unbelievably, the G4 had the power switch front panel board problem. After a quick trip to a Apple Specialist - only a 2 day turnaround, I have a G4/450 with a new logic board and power board. My 15 inch monitor has performed flawlessly; no dead or stuck pixels. The only reason I can see that it might have been returned is a small hairline fracture in the back of the display near the top center. At least, that is what it appears to be, but I can't feel it if I rub my fingernail across it. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase and no, I did not buy AppleCare - I use the computer so much that anything that is going to go wrong is going to do it in the first 90 days. On a side note, though, I was most concerned with how the monitor was going to perform, hence my not buying the 22" refurb cinema display. Quite ironically, it was the CPU that ended up having a problem and the monitor that has been good from the get-go. -colinm

    re-evaluating AppleCare?

"Apple is in the process of evaluating an AppleCare Protection Plan specifically for Apple Refurbished products."

Hmm… wonder what this could mean. They'll probably limit the AppleCare to one full year and that's it. Maybe charge the same price as the 3-year plan. Any other guesses?

    New Logic Board

It's not new, just another refurb. Of course if it is replaced with 1 month of system warrenty left, your LB gets it's own 3 months.
