Keep the site

Keep the site, just don't update the layout. That's not too labor-intensive, now is it?

If you kill this site, I'll just go elsewhere, and NOT read the gaming news at your main site. Macledge.com, for example, is a very good gaming-oriented alternative. So is insidemacgames.com.

MacGamer.com )Macledge.com( has been on top of the video cards lately - they'll be the best place to look - look at the volume of news they've had lately! They won't miss it!

mac gaming sites

IMG has tons of news, but the news items feel like regurgitated press releases. MacGamer has more news recently as well, but the layout is uncomfortable, and much of the news has a rushed feel to it. Corey Tamas has been doing most of the work around there, it seems; one man can only do so much, and he probably has alot to deal with besides the actual newswriting.

Is anyone waiting for a new mac gaming site to surface? Something with real reader interaction, not just forums and a poll? I'd like to read more gaming and hardware reviews - of the *good* stuff - plus interviews with the top gaming gurus. Who cares about console news? Most console games will never make it to the PC, let alone the Mac. Does anyone really need a news post announcing that Team X has updated site Y with information on FPS Mod Z, which won't be released for another three months? And please don't taunt us with news about upcoming PC releases unless you think there's a *good chance* of them being released for our platform.

Blah.

Am I just in a bad mood? Your thoughts?

Hey, we can't be in mourning too long. Apple has a vastly improved games website here:

Trailers, downloads, OS X games, hardware recommendations, it's all there. I never knew about this until today. You should check it out.

What a MINUTE!!!!!

People buy computers to play games! Everyone knows that! If you're going to remove your focus from the one purchase point people have, then you're going to lose! Even the head VP's at Apple quote this principle. Come on guys, there is always a way to keep both streams alive. Truncating ALL game converage to the main page is simply rediculious. People will volunteer time. Look at the site http://www.gamedb.com/ that's entirely supported by volunteers, and they have incredible information, reviews and updates. You can do the same. Don't pat yourself on the pack too hard today, you've made one really lame off-strategy decision.

Return Date

How about providing those of us who are regulars to this site with a date of return?

I can't believe how un-professionally this announcement has been handled. It's understood that there needs to be a shift towards the improvement of the main site and that vast resources are required... but at least provide us with an estimated date of return!!!!
