Apple has added an iMac promo to the Apple Store; from tomorrow through July 8, customers who purchase any iMac can receive a free Epson Stylus 580 printer, or $69 back on the purchase of a Stylus 777i, 880i, or 888. The iMac need not be purchased through the Apple Store.

    New iMacs!

    Great! This means two things

    1.) iMac sales are horrible.
2.) New iMacs are being released at MWNY

    Suspicious ?

    It's only a marketing action... no ? :)

    Look at the dates

The promo ends 10 days before Macworld New York. All Apple promos that end just before Macworld indicate that they are getting rid of the product with the promo.

Maybe we'll see DVD/CD-RW models, or a 17" display, or an LCD version.

After all, if you keep wishing for something long enough, Apple will eventually build it. (Except the 4 CPU PowerMac that Ryan the MOSR moron has been predicting since 1996.)

    I'm guessing speed bumps

Nothing significant - simple speed bumps. That's my prediction anyway.

    Buying new iMac

I just put in an order in today for a Graphite 600mhz model.
I did not see the Epson offer prior to ordering, however it is a bonus.

I am going to upgrade again once the iMac systems include the Superdrive, which is not going to happen by MWNY.
Why? Because the price of the drive alone is too much money. I say superdrives in iMac systems 2002 like Steve once stated.

    Grandfather Clause?

Anyone know if Apple will honor this for my week old iMac?

    Missed it by that much...

I just helped my mother purchase her first Macintosh Computer two weeks ago. An iMac Indigo and an Epson 777i printer. She loves it and has quickly mastered iTunes, Surfing the Internet and Email. I bought her an iSub (for her birthday later this week) so she can enjoy her Ena and Shania Twain MP3s that she imported from her favorite CDs.

Then I noticed this $69 rebate. Unfortunately, I read the coupon and this offer is only valid for purchases made from April 13th to July 8th.

She's been really happy with her new computer so I won't tell her about this. Now if she would only let my father on the computer.

Damn I hate playing the rebate game.
