Apple has posted features on The Sacramento Bee's addition of video to its content, bolstered by the use of Macs and Final Cut Pro, and another Final Cut Pro user's perspective on the software and how it compares to other solutions.

    How good could FCP be?

Spend $1000 for a piece of software that supports LESS dv equipment than the $49 iMovie!?!??! C'mon, Apple, get your priorities straight!

    Ummm...

Uhh... The ignorance in the above post is overwhelming and makes my head hurt.

Why do people continue to post peanut-gallery comments about something they know NOTHING about?!?!

    iMovie = home movies
Final Cut Pro = Production quality

Do you really think iMovie can replace FCP??? Do you think video professionals gives a rats a$$ that FCP doesn't support your consumer-level handycam or whatever it is???

    Sheeze!!!! Ignorance pisses off sometimes!!

    RE: Ummm...

Thank you for your insightful comment. I, too, nearly flipped my lid upon reading the moronic comment.

"I don't NEED to pay big bucks for a computer when I've got a trusty solar-powered calculator!"

Any post whose title contains the word "could" in reference to a product probably hasn't used the product in question.

I'll end with this...Final Cut Pro is tremendous.

    FCP *rocks*!!!

What's unbelievable with it is how easy I picked it up. I play with video as a hobby, and I never managed to get very good at EditDV, too complicated. Adobe Premiere was even worse (and sloooooow to boot).
I love how intuitive Final Cut Pro is, and also how you don't need to know every detail about it in order to get started. Then, little by little, you can pick up stuff along the way.
And the quality of the results is absolutely stunning and professional.

Two for me, one for you

The editor, Sarles, gets a G4 AND the powerbook, while the rest of his family shares an iMac. C'mon, man, spring for some more hardware for them!!!!!!!!!

    FCP - targeted users ?

how come there is no article/s where FCP gets compared head to head to its rivals ? Discreet Edit, Media100, AVID Xpress/Composer etc. ??? As a fulltime AVID editor i just dont get why no one shows me the facts (hello, Apple ?!)
I mean, i doubt that Apple will get the pro's away from their suites as long as (they) dont come up with at least a honest [+/-] comparisment chart. Also, does anyone know if FCP 2.0 can import and/or export After FX / AVID / M100 / Combustion projects ?

Actually, i never really understood who the targeted endusers really are...Premiere users ? I doubt it. But then again, pro's need at least 2videostreams in realtime as well as Dissolves and most Keys. Can FCP do this ???
