On2 to demo QuickTime 5 plug-in at NAB

On2, a developer of broadband multimedia streaming technology, has announced that its VP3 Plug-In for QuickTime 5.0 and VP4 video compression technologies will be available for public demonstration for the first time at this year's NAB conference. The company's system is said to deliver VHS-quality at 150 Kbps.

    Kick a**!

    On2 is not making enough noise. Their codecs' quality is amazing, and they're pretty fast, too.
    AND they're cross-platform. Give them a try!

    Keeping Quicktime Alive

    Too bad Apple doesn't have the resources to make their own player competitive with Real and WMP. On2 smokes Sorenson2 Pro (and Sorenson 3 Beta, for that matter, and compresses faster as well. Too bad it's not included as part of the original QT download. Now PC clients have two sites to visit if they want to see streaming video on my stream of choice :(

    Better than On2 ?

    Have you compared 3ivx or OpenDivX regarding image quality ?

    The last time I used On2's codec, the image was all blurred, while in OpenDivX the image was quite sharper at the same file size.
