Following up on OnStream recent financial difficulties and closure of its US operations, a reader reports OnStream has received financial backing from Quantum, which will allow the company to continue to manufacture and sell its products worldwide from The Netherlands: "The closure of the American office will have minimal effect on the supply of existing and new ADR tape drives. OnStream expects to resume its business activities within a few weeks."

Good news!!
I'm really glad to hear this. Its a great back up medium for companies that have neither the budget or patience to use DLT or Travan etc ...
I have been backing up our g4 server using a SCSI external ADR50 for the last 7 months, without any real problems. I had to flash the firmware on a pc when i got the unit, but we have saved £ 1000s in media and recording, and it's easy.
I was worried these guys would go under, or worse still, Maxtor would buy them out ..... :-)
