Fizzilla gets better all the time! :-) Both it and Omniweb have been WAAAY better than Internet Exploder on both of my MacOS X machines. This is very nice to see. :)

    Fizzilla and OS X

I don't know. I tried the last two ports of Fizzilla (Including the 3/26 version) and they both seemed dog-slow, even to the point of hanging on certain Web pages. OmniWeb (esp. fc3) and IE are both pretty zippy, however.

I like Mozilla a lot and it was my default browser on 9.1 but I'm going to hold off on Fizzilla for a while. (Or just use Mozilla in Classic, which runs very well.)

I like OmniWeb a lot, particularly fc3. IE on my MacOS X is surprisingly slow. Doesn't remember my proxy settings either which is a big boo for me. I'll be using this as a default browser for a while to come unless IE and Fizzilla really up the ante. OmniWeb seems particularly zippy on a high speed connection vs. my MacOS 9.1 browsers (Mozilla, Netscape, IE). However, it seems slower than those options on a dial-up connection.

One beef, outside of minor Javascript issues, is that OmniWeb is slower than other browsers when hooked up to my squid proxy server. On the other browsers in Win9x, Linux, MacOS 9.1, the browsers access the proxy server and download files extremely quickly. OmniWeb does it faster than getting it from the Net but slower than it should from the proxy server.

Its seems like there is a lot of variation in the browser performance that people report.

I'm finding Fizzilla 3/26 to be much FASTER than even Omniweb!!

Pages don't load quite as quickly as Moz on my P600 win2k (where it is competitive with Exploder 5.5) but is beating everything else on my OSX 233 Beige G3. I might almost be willing to call it "snappy".

I have incidentally reduced to thousands of colors and changed the background image to one of the solid tiffs (background is now in finder preferences not in the system prefs, which took me a bit to find.) These changes really made a huge difference to me as far as Carbon and Cocoa apps, for a while Classic apps were more responsive (heh).

Hopefully we will have daily builds of Fizzilla in the next week or two.

PS There are some great Moz (and Netscape) icons on Xicons.com
