No FinderPop for OS X

updated 10:00 pm EST, Mon March 26, 2001

Turly O'Connor, author of the popular FinderPop utility, writes: "FinderPop, like most of today's INITs and control panels, will never run in its current form on OS X. I am planning something with similar basic functionality, but it will be rather difficult to achieve the level of integration of the OS 9 version."

    Turly O'Connor is da man

Finderpop is the thing I miss the most about running mac os 9.1. It sure bugs me to right click and not see Turly's wonder utility giving me a world of options!

Hope to see finderpopX real soon!

    when did he says this

Is this something recent ? If that is a quote from his web site then it has been like that for at least 6 months. Does anyone know what he is up to ?

    FinderPop

This is the best piece of "make my life easier" software I have ever used, and I sorely miss it already. I hope Turly can reasonably duplicate it in OS X. If he can, we will both lift a pint to the man.

    Are CMMs hard to hack?

FinderPop is great - I'd perform unspeakable acts just to get an 'Open With...' - function into my OS X Contextual Menu. Is that somehow extra hard to implement in OS X?

CMMs aren't supported under OS X 10.0, thus they would be rather hard to hack. =)

    FinderPop is a MUST

Forget x-button mouses or trackpads. Just give us FinderPop. It does everything you might want from a second button and much more elegantly.
OS X has already some FinderPoppish behavior, e.g. in the Dock. But I want it sytem-wide, always, everywhere. Please Turly, convince Apple that they should hire you to build it into the kernel...
