Hotsync under OS X

Scott H passed along some notes about Hotsyncing his Visor under Mac OS X: "I was able to hot sync my Visor via Classic in OS X. You have to have Classic running and have a Classic app in the fore ground. Also the hot sync has to be in the fore ground while syncing. If you click off it will crash Classic. If you don't have a Classic app in the fore ground when you hit sync it will crash Classic. Palm Desktop worked just fine."

Works for me too, no cras

I am able to do hot-sync of my Handspring Visor (via USB cradle) when running classic as well. I agree that a classic app has to be in the foreground for it to work. However, once the sync has started, I can go on and do something else and put the hot-sync window in the background without any crashing problems. In fact, I have not crashed classic at all with hot-synching - maybe a difference with the USB cradle?
What does crash classic is dragging the icon for a TIFF image from the Carbon Finder into a PowerPoint (2001) window.... but that's another topic.

I can do it without Class

I simply run the "Serial Port Monitor". It leaves an icon in the dock and can't be quit (I like it that way as a status indicator) but I can sync anytime I hit the cradle button, even with Cocoa in the FG.

    Cheers,
