Morning console news: Microsoft has promised that users of its upcoming XBox game console will not see a blue screen of death on their TV screens, while promising more information this week at the Tokyo Game Show and in May at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3); Squaresoft's Final Fantasy IX nabbed three awards at last week's Interactive Acheivement Awards including Console Role-Playing Game of the Year; and Saudi Arabia's religious authority has issued an edict banning Pokemon games and cards, saying they have "possessed the minds" of children, promote Zionism and involve gambling.

Weird. I played through that Pokémon yellow game (on a Mac emulator) and I don't remember seeing a Star of David anywhere. What are they on about?

For that matter, wouldn't it be pretty easy to see a hexagonal star form just about anywhere you wanted to? In nature, for instance?

    No Blue Screen of Death

I have it on good sources that it's really true you won't see the blue screen of death on the x-crock. They changed the routines to return lighter shade that they are calling Lickable Aqua.. still in the Blue family, but more reminisent of Macs. It's now going to be called the X Screen of Death. That way, 50% of the market when they hear about it will think of the new OS from apple. Damn clever, these mafia$oft guys!

I knew Pokemon were Evil and they plan to brainwash everyone like Hitler did. (Hisses and Screams heard all around)

    No blue screen of death?
I just hope they don't use the XP model of pay per year for the OS and games. Maybe the bozos will make it like coin op only you need a credit card to play the games.
