Intuit misses Mar 15 deadline for Canadians

Mark Hicken notes that Intuit has missed its scheduled March 15 release date for providing NetFile compatibility for Canadian QuickTax customers, noting the patch is now scheduled for release for the week of March 19.

"There is at least some info on its site finally - but Intuit now states that the Mac version has not even been certified by Revenue Canada yet.... It is impossible to reach any of their tech support or
sales numbers and there is no e-mail support at all. Considering that we are only a few weeks away from tax filing deadline, I plan to return my copy of QuickTax for Mac for a refund."

    Annual Frustration

This is the 3rd or 4th year using Quicktax. I remember being frustrated every year about this time waiting for the 'final' or netfile update. Thankfully the copy of Quicktax they sent me can print out the returns without an update, unlike previous years. This is the first time I owe money, so I am in no hurry, but otherwise I'd be a bit peeved! I'll also ask for a refund if it doesn't come out this week.

    Typical

Simply amazing that Intuit continues to give us Canadian Mac users the shaft. From a sub-par Quicken (ever try to track RRSP's or get a History for Mutual Fund), to a still-not-certified QuickTax, intuit shows time and again that their Mac products are mere tokens.Whats if the Feds/Provs do not issue certification for Mac Quicktax would Intuit offer a refund?
Here's my advice: return QuickTax now and use the web-based filing systems such as GriffTax or Quicken's own WebTax. There may be others so check Rev Can's Netfile site. If you make less than 20 000 CDN, filing is free. Over 20 and you pay much less than what you pay for a copy of QuickTax.

    It's out

Well it's out now. It's available at their updates page or more directly, the updater itself. BTW, when I called a couple of weeks ago to ask, they told me that 95% of their sales goes to Windows, therefore they do consciously neglect the Mac users.
