Afternoon console news: In response to a memo sent to retailers by Nintendo encouraging them to not run X-Box promotions, Nintendo of America's Vice President of Marketing told cube.ign.com the reason for the memo and that the GameCube will definitely ship this year; Midway has released new screenshots and information on its upcoming Playstation 2 title, CART Fury; Metro 3D has decided to halt development of Armada 2 and Dark Angel: Vampire Apocalypse for the Sega Dreamcast; and Raven Software's gory first-person shooter Soldier of Fortune is scheduled for a release on the Playstation 2 this September.
