Adobe today announced that Premiere 6.0 will support real-time editing when used in conjunction with QuickTime 5 and the necessary hardware, which is expected to ship from Matrox, ProMax, and other companies this Spring. The Windows version of Premiere has supported real-time editing for several years. Last week, Apple unveiled Final Cut Pro 2, a new version of its competing video editing application that also boasts new real-time editing capabilities.

    Who cares

I mean really, Premiere gets some user interface enhancements like an audio mixer window and everyone goes gaga. Real tine editing that's been on the Windows side for years.......weeeeeeeee!
I'll stick with Final Cut Pro.
Adobes a little to busy working for Bill G. and making there
    products subpar on the Mac

    FYI...

The lack of RT on the Mac has been due to limitations of QT and third-party support. Now that the support from Apple has implemented RT in QT it's finally possible.

    You're missing the point

FCP users need to understand that; in order to keep FCP moving ahead, Apple NEEDs the competition. Without competition, there's little to strive for in improving a product. I use Media 100 now myself; a previous user of both Premiere AND FCP. However, I think these new product offerings will even impact the Media 100 community greater than the Final Cut community. Suddenly there are a lot more choices.

My hat's off to Adobe. They now have a system that realistically compares to Final Cut. I don't think this is the last we'll see of Premiere. And I thought it was dead long ago. It sure doesn't hurt that Adobe's stock has done tons better than Apple's over the past year. Adobe is in a strong position to take the lead. Don't discount them yet, guys.
