OS X to ship in India in July

updated 11:50 am EST, Fri March 16, 2001

Apple will introduce Mac OS X in India in July, 2001: "Mac Os X, which is currently under beta testing by several companies, will be shipped to Asian markets like Singapore and Hong Kong from March 24. The suggested retail price for Singapore is Singapore $221 while the Hong Kong price would be HK $100. The Indian price has, however, not been decided as the launch is four months away, sources said. $100HK for pirate copies!

Frankly I think this is a complete disaster!!!!!!! OS X not going to India for fourth months!! This huge new market is being squandered by more stupid management at Apple! Those fools! Now they will surely go bankrupt!!!!

    It's HK$1000

As a guy living in HK, I can confirm that the price is in fact HK$1,000... (1USD = 7.8HKD pegged)

Placed an order through Apple Store and there will be an announcement event here in HK on the 24th... that means we will be able to get our hands on the OS X just 4 hours after our friends in New Zealand (who are, as usual, the first guys in the world)... Can't wait!! :)

    Duh!!!

The OSX for India version delay is due to localization in the several standard indian languages. You complainers have chuttney for brains.

    China fonts?

I hope Apple isn't ignoring China, a potentially huge market.
