Wolfram Research earlier this month introduced CalculationCenter, a "midmarket" technical calculation software that combines "algebraic operations with numerics, graphics, and a technical word processor as well as a "point-and-click interface concept, smart plotting, and unique InstantCalculators" with automatic input correction. The application is available for $300 in an introductory offer.

    Excellence in software

The price is still a bit steep. I have been waiting for an industrial-strength mathematical program that would be useful in education and self-education. Could that be the one? Does it integrate a mathematical reference? I think that I will shell out these $300. Excellence in software is pretty rare these days.

    A Mathematica Light

At 300 Dollars with the ablity to upgrade to Mathematica in the future, as well as .nb compatiblity with Mathematica; BUY IT. This product will destroy the competition. Remember: Symbolic Equation Solving, Arbitrary length precision, and full dataset plotting are all features that are there. This announcement is great. Also remember you have to pay to have good software.
