Business Week: G. Kawasaki backlash

updated 08:55 pm EST, Wed March 14, 2001

Following a public outcry from Mac users in response to former Apple evangelist Guy Kawasaki's appearance at IBM's PartnerWorld 2001, Business Week's Charles Haddad responds with "Why Mac Zealots Need to Chill". "If Apple is willing to welcome change, then, perhaps its more fanatical users should, too."

    Couln't Care Less...

I couln't care less about Business Week. After the post couple of months of horrible articles, I don't even bother to read Business Week or Charles Haddad. I have lost all respect for Business Week. Just go disappear Charles, you are a worthless troll and a terrible fact checker.

    LLLLoser. . .

What a spank me off, maybe he shoud try getting his facts straight before he published the article. The low down is that because IBM paid him a substantial amount of money to speak, Guy felt is was reasonable to use a Think Pad for the presentation, as per IBM's request - Truth he is uses a TiBook rest of the time.

    Good riddance to Kawasaki

I was happy when Kawasaki left Apple. To me, he represented everything that was wrong with Apple and its attitudes. Basically, his take on everything was, "Macintosh computers are perfect, everything else is s***, and if you don't shut up and just shell out whatever Apple feels like charging, you're automatically an idiot." I'm glad he's gone.

    Garbage.com???

Oh my god... ahhaha... Kawasaki wouldn't like this one very much:

"Come on, the guy made a clean break with Apple and is just trying to make a living out of his new consultancy, Garbage.com. It wasn't his fault that his cherished PowerBook wouldn't work at what was basically a Windows users' conference. "

    For reference, it's garage.com, not garbage.com. Hehehe.

Also, the powerbook would have worked fine. The actual truth is that IBM couldn't have an IBM presentation given on an Apple machine, so asked Kawasaki to use a Stinkpad. No powerbook has ever failed to work with a presentation system - they're not DOS boxes, after all!

    Get over it...

This guy in Business Week made a very good point; get over it. Apple is a great company w/great products, but it's not the end of the world (this coming from a loyal Apple users for 6 years through thick and thin).

    Haddad

Have to concur with the Haddad comments. He used to (or may still) write a Mac column for the Atlanta paper. It wasn't bad enough that the news aspect of it was MONTHS behind reality - the few tidbits he came up with were hopelessly inaccurate as well. If I see the name Haddad, I just snicker and move on.

    INCOMPETENT

Never in my life have I seen such an incompetent (and I don't use that term lightly, but the guy is the living definition) writer retained by an employer. I'm actually SHOCKED that BW continue to use him, especially after the previous (multiple) debacles they had to eventually issue corrections for. Perhaps this is the new face of the Anti-Mac Press: call them "Apple Columnists."

    Haddad should...

.. bUrn in h*** for daring to speak downeth on uth Mac faithful! JiHAADdddd!

Seriously, he has a point. Kawasaki was part of the problem in the creation of this level of zealotry and so he should've been the least surprised even though it was all in jest. I enjoy my Mac(s) and the entire Macintosh experience but really, some of our fellow users are the epitomy of embarassment when it comes to their behavior (ah, but it is justified since zhou who disses thy Mac platform be flameth with ze massive tongue phooey).

    What's the point?

I read the article and he makes some valid points. I've met many of the Mac fanatics he speaks of, and I really wish they weren't part of the Mac community. But that's the way life is.

The really sad part is that this moron can write an article stating the obvious and changing the facts to prove his motive and everyone reads it like it's official corporate information instead of what it really is; just another man's opinion. Truth is, his say is no more powerful than yours or mine, so please stop acting like he's in charge of the World Mac Organisation (yes, I made that up).
