Matrox Video Products Group today announced the release of Matrox RTMac, its much-anticipated realtime editing card which works with Final Cut Pro 2 to provide realtime editing. The "Matrox Flex 3D" architecture uses Matrox accelerator technology to provide broadcast-quality effects and 32-bit, uncompressed, animated graphics in a dual-stream, native-DV editing environment. The $1000 PCI-based card will be available within the next few days at authorized dealers and distributors worldwide. [price updated]

I'm waiting for ProMax
If ProMax ever get's their RT-Max (they had that name before Matrox announced the RT-Mac BTW) done, that'll be the card to buy: Realtime rendering of 2 DV streams *TO FIREWIRE*!
Unless things have changed recently, the Matrox solution only does real time out to an analog port. That means if you want to archive back to DV you either have to put that through your deck's A-D converters and deal with generational loss or wait for rendering just as long as you would without the RT-Mac.
ProMax's card would allow you to do away with rendering for many of the most used effects and filters. (Not sure if it does CG)
It will probably cost twice as much but, to many of us, it'll be worth it!
