David Aila informed us of New York Link, a Mac-friendly free ISP for users in New York State. The service is completely ad-free and imposes no limits on access. New York Link also offers other services, including DSL, Web Hosting, and QuickTime streaming services.

I have been using them for a week and the connection is very reliable. And finally a free ISP that allows you to connect without installing software that mess system and bookmarks.

Robert A. Heinlein said it best: "There aint no such thing as a free lunch." I would be suspicious of this service until they explain how they do it. I went to their website: no such explanation, and no information about the company, its owners or officers, etc. If the big boys couldn't make this business model work, how will these folks?

They also provide other services, such as web hosting, pay dialup with nationwide access, as well as DSL.

I can see them doing it if they have enough business doing everything else. h*** one of the companies here from knowing them and the owners if they wanted to could give the service away cause them make so much money off of their corporate customers
