IDC expects Japan's domestic PC shipments to rise 17.2% this year to 16.56 million units, down from a 30.4% growth last year. NEC led the pack in 2000 with 21.7% of total sales while Apple fell to the tenth position from 5.9% in 1999 to 3.9% in 2000.
