Disney's new DVD The Emperor's Groove contains a game that is not Macintosh compatible, despite the fact that Apple has been using an action provided by Disney artists to demonstrate how much faster the new Power Mac G4's are than Intel Pentium 4's. The DVD will be available on May 1st, 2001.

    Disney Snubs Mac users

Let's all stop buying these inferior gadgets that run Gate's incredibly badly designed software and enjoy our Macs which are definitely a true viable alternative. As of Disney, its pathological way of thinking easily surpasses in stupidity anything, any faulty piece of software Bill Gates could have had his army of programmers come up with.

there is definitely a connection between the minds of Disney and Microsoft, they think alike. They are both sick.

    ...

the movie sucks anyway. why would you want to buy disney's overpriced c***? and let's be honest.. how many of you whiny jerks would have even cared about this game if the incompatibility issue hadn't been raised?

"disney is trampling my rights as a mac user! i deserve to play their sucky game just like any other loser!"

    Games on DVDs

Disney is not the only one. National Geographic also has interactive games and learning resources on some of their DVDs. These are also Windows only.

    Need not worry

Now that Apple has discontinued DVD on the iMac you would not be able to play it anyhow.

    The Movie

    "the movie sucks anyway"?

I'm 33 and saw it with a friend and his daughter and thought it was a riot. I won't be buying the DVD, but I'm sure it'll get a rental out of me.

    the game

It's actually only a demo of the PC version of the game. The PSX version (exactly the same game) runs fine on VGS (demos should be on PSX coverdisks).

    Disney Pixar Apple

Seems the point is Disney is connected to Steve Jobs via Pixar and should therefore provide a Mac compatible product even if it does suck!

    Not *Disney*, but DiG

The Disney company is composed of many different entities, and unlike many larger corporations, ech individual fiefdom doesn't really cooperate with any other in the same company.

Hence, this is a problem with *Disney Interactive*, not the Disney Company as a whole - These are essentially the same folks (or similar ones, at least), who worked at 'GO' (now GOne) and who came up with the brilliant idea of releasing Disney's Blast without Mac support - while sweepstaking away iMacs...

Oh, and for what it's worth, they aren't in Microsoft's pocket, but rather in Compaq's pocket (as per a press release not so long ago, regarding their deal with Compaq).

If you don't like it, you have two options - don't buy their products (a valid option, since most are c***), or write to their upper managemnet (not the interactive group, but above, the Disney Company, or their board members)

    Forget Disney...

What is really sad is that some of the Pixar DVDs have Windows only features.
