Along with support for third-party drives, Apple's newly released iTunes 1.1 apparently brings a few fixes for Titanium PowerBook owners, according to one reader: "For all us TiBook owners, it fixes the widescreen issue for full screen visuals! Also, 10 user selectable presets for visuals, a few new modes and as best as I can tell, slightly higher frame rates on my TiPBG4/500. Other small updates for show title track, the shuffle seems to work now, and was that power saving option always there?"

    iTunes Still half baked

Well, at least it did not crash when I went to install it this time, like 1.0 did.
There is still no (Apple) support for the Plextor 8/20 PX R-820T drives, although they do include support for other plextor drives.

I was able to get 1.0 Hacked and working with the fix that used the CD Master work around, but 1.1 kills and breaks that workaround for now.

Frame rates seem faster (Although no where near Soundjam) than 1.0 but more work needed here. (Yikes G4 400mhz)

Overall, it apears the changes are 'under the hood' and the addition of the 25+ drivers (Everyone else's drive but mine..)

Maybe if they feed the programer that Steve has chained up to his terminal and up his Jolt cola dosage, we can have this thing on par with Soundjam by MW New York Summer 2001.

Best part of the program still is the 1 window interface design (hey I like it) and the ease of playlist creation/minipulation (all of the typical demo stuff Steve does during Keynote time).

    Pop Goes the Toast

What's the point of updating Itunes to support third party drives if you don't do the same with Disc Burner? I can now burn audio CD's fine with Itunes on my QPS USB drive, but I have to disable the Toast extension first. So, all I can do with my CDR now is burn audio; no data.

I still think the Soundjam and Toast option is better than using Itunes. Itunes still loses out to Soundjam in sound quality, especially with Realizer on under Soundjam and at least I can use my CDR to do more than steal music!

    only US/English OS

1.1 can now only be installed on US/English OSes. This is bullshit. "Note: Versions of iTunes for International English, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch will be available February 2001."

    If You Have OS 9.1...

You can get Disc Burner to work with your burner if iTunes recognizes it! Just install iTunes 1.1 on your OS 9.1 machine, make sure your burner works fine (even if you have to disable all Toast extensions), then get Disc Burner 1.0. Extract the Disc Burner, Disc Burner Extension, and Finder files from the Disc Burner installer Tome with TomeViewer. Replace your 9.1 Finder with the one from Disc Burner, drop the Disc Burner Extension into your Extensions folder, and reboot! Worked fine for me on my Strawberry iMac DV with a Que! Fire 8x4x32x external firewire burner. The iTunes/DB extensions even replace the Toast Reader Extension fine. Only problem is flaky digital audio playback from the external drive, though...

    Itunes 1.1 freez

Well, I don't know if it works. From what some of you say, it must.
But for me it was another story. First, the curser froze after the start up. And there was no way it would move with Itunes installed. I tryed to move the start items around so Kensington would start up first. That didn't work. Then remembered that there was an extention problem. I checked that. No that wasn't it. I took out all the USB inits for the Itunes group that didn't work. I only got it to work after I took out all of the soft ware that Itunes installed.
Any one else having any problems?

    Sony Spressa USB / iTunes

The Sony Spressa USB CD Buner works with iTunes. Yay!

It also works with Disc Burner. Double Yay!

Follow the steps from the post "If You Have OS 9.1...". It will work.

Basically, if you install iTunes 1.1 and it recognizes your CD-RW drive, the Disc Burner hack will work. You'll need Tome Viewer to extract the needed pieces, though.

    mine won't work

I have one of the supported drives, but I still can't get it to work. I had the CD-Master set installed, but disabled it. My Yamaha CRW8824 still won't burn.

    Frustrating.

    Works!

Now I don't have to unplug my Lexmark USB printer every time I want to play music...
