Could it possibly be to comply with the agreement Connectix had to sign in order to get microsoft to not sue them?
b*******.
Give us time... and I'd like to know what agreement you're talking about. Microsoft has never threatened to sue us, and that's certainly not the reason why the linux build is out yet.
Also, the info in the original article is wrong. The Win98 and WinME versions are $179, and the DOS version is $79.
Oh, and first commenter... you'll be waiting until after Apple releases OS X then. We are committed to releasing a version for Mac OS X, and we plan to release it as close as possible to Apple's release of OS X.

Is it possible to upgrade VPC 4 with Win98 to Win2000? If so, what's involved? I asked tech support some time ago but never got a response.
I never had the chance to talk to someone on Connectix but now that i can i will.
Tell me something, how faster will be the OSX version of VPC? will be any chance to use the Video Acelerators with os x?
Thanks

Yes, you can upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 but that would involve you purchasing the Win2k upgrade from Microsoft. The application used with Win98 and Win2k is the same, so there's no reason to purchase VPC a second time. The only gotcha would be making sure that you have enough drive space within Windows before attepting to upgrade.

(Oh, and this isn't a regular thing... posting here that is. I just felt a need to comment on the pricing)
I have VPC4 and have loaded and run Win2000 and WinME. I really like it so far. I just played You Don't Know Jack on the WinME side since it doesn't work now in OS 9. It played flawlessly. Just a few audio pops, but I did no tweaking. Looks just like you sat down at a windows PC.
I've got VPC3 as well and it's hard to really state the improvement. It seems better, but I can't say by what magnitude. Just smoother. No long sighs in-between execution. It also lets me work in Mac at the same time with little speed reduction hit.
oh, search at google to find the Indiana University Microsoft agreement. It lets one buy Windows and most software for $5 a disk!
User, I wish I could answer that question for you, but as I'm sure you can understand, I am not able to comment on unreleased products.

I wonder if Connectix will ever support the option to actually use the dual processors in the Mac so that Windows NT and 2000 will actually see the 2 processors?
I'm running VPC with Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000. All 3 run flawlessly and pretty quick with this new version.

WinMe speed?
has anyone tried VPC4 with WinME? Is it much slower than Win98?
Personally I will not purchase VPC until they release an OS X compatible version.
