Frank Steinhoff has been appointed CEO of Apple Germany, following Peter Dewald's departure six months ago. Steinhoff will lead both the German and Austria operations of the company, according to MacGadget [German], which also notes that Steinhoff was the CEO of Adobe Germany from 1996 to mid-1999.

    NOT MacGadget !!

Just for the record: They (macgadget.de) got it from German Magazine Macwelt (www.macwelt.de, a Macworld Magazine subsidiary).

Not that I dislike politically very right-winged (if not extremist) MacGadget, don't get me wrong here. It's just getting the facts right ....

To be more precise: What I dislike most is MacGadget's use of the -very bizarre and awkward- translation of "E-Mail". They use "e-Brief". This is exactly what German Neonazis have in their vocabulary. To avoid stupid foreigners' vocabulary and being nice and very German. Just like the rest of their vocabulary: Netscape Navigator is "Web Browser" for most of the world including Germany. For MacGadget, it is a "Internet-Seitenbetrachter". If you were German speaking - I promise - you'd break down in laughter. It's outright ridiculous.

    MacGadget, right winged

    Hi Robert,
I am from Germany and read Macgadget nearly every day. Perhaps I have not noticed their special tone, but since you pointed it out, it really does sound ridiculous. But I would not go that far as to make them a right winged site, but who knows ? They certainly do not publish in an extremest style of writing. I do not think I am influenced by their choice of words in my political way of thinking, also the same News can bei found on www.macnews.de and Macwelt.com which both have a better style of writing (personal opinion) . I think if someone here was reading "InternetSeitenbetracher" he would think: What kind of nut is writing this ?

    Re:MacGaGa extreme?

    Hi Joe,

    take a look at:

    http//www.deutsche-sprachwelt.de/

You'll be surprised. Stefan Wunner, listed as "Schriftleiter Weltnetz" (Editor Internet Edition) , down at the "Impressum". Here we go again: n***-Genetics, Revisionism, Xenophobia.

"Keep German language clean" under the hood of n***-theories.

    Nice :-/

Try entering names of the editorial from the "Impressum" in search engines like Google. Don't gasp: It'll reach as far as "Waffen SS" and "Colonia Dignidad".

    RE: Gadget extreme

Indeed, I was surprised, didnt know that.
I do know that there are some freaks that want to keep influences from other languages away from being included in German, I think this "demand" surfaces from time to time in the media, but really on which planet are they living ? (France, perhaps.. :-) ?
So far I do not have anything against those lunies (dont bother), but when all of this is woven into a net of "n***-Genetics, Revisionism and Xenophobia " as you pointed out, one really has to wonder what these people are thinking. Kind of interesting though that such a person runs a computer news-service...
Thanks for the hint, i will keep it in mind when reading macgadget. However, I think they have already lost most of their audience to macnews.de which is like the german version of macnn.com

    Huh?

"In Germany is democracy" What does that mean? Sounds like we've got an international riot on our hands as a result of this new Apple CEO. hehe.

    What are you on?

    Robert,

So basically, you are saying that the guys who are trying to make a language (eg. German) evolve by creating new words (and not using English words) are neo-n****.

Take the example of France. Commitees who are in charge of creating new words (to avoid an all too massive influence of English) have been created by the state. Does that mean that France is a neo-n*** country? No.
Every year, the Academie Francaise approves several hundred new words, created to keep up with the evolution of technology. Does that mean the 40 guys composing the Academie are a bunch of old n****? No.

So what is your point? What are you trying to say here? That everything scientific or computer related should be in English?

OK, "E-mail" and "Web browser" are now part of the common language. Everybody knows uses them, so it is a bit too late to create a German version of it. But if those guys use "E-Brief", what the h***? That doesn't make n**** out of them!

When you don't understand the meaning of a word, don't use it. In your case, Robert, "n***" is one of these words.
