According to the Japan Electronic Industry Development Association, Japan's PC shipments exceeded its TV shipments. There were 9.94 million PCs shipped during fiscal 1999, a 32 percent jump, and exceeded shipments of TVs for the first time. TV shipments totaled 9.76 million units.
