PowerBook G4 auto/airplane adapter

updated 04:40 pm EST, Fri February 16, 2001

Lind Electronics' Website lists a $100 PowerBook G4 power adapter for obtaining power from a standard cigarrette lighter and on airplanes.

The Lind Automobile/Airline Adapters "operate your laptop and at the same time charge the laptop's internal battery. Each adapter provides the proper voltage for your specific computer from any 11 to 16 VDC source. Output filtering, tight regulation and short circuit protection keep your computer safe from power fluctuations at the source." The adapter operates from a standard automobile cigarette lighter and is compatible with airline seatback systems. It ships with a 3-yr warranty and a 30 day money back guarantee. (The power connector on the back of the PowerBook G4 is smaller than the standard connector on most Apple laptops and is not compatible with previous generation accessories.) LOL

No...in some airlines, particularly, new models, they include special outlets for laptops. I've seen this in Delta's Business Class section on the 767-ER that I flew from JFK to Zurich...i'm assuming its only found in bussiness and first class...so dont expect to find it in coach anywhere, and it has nothing to do with the ear phone plugs! hehehe that would be cool though...

    American has it in coach

American Airlines has these plugs in their coach seats (at least on every plane I've flown in the last year). Looks like a car cigarette lighter plug with a little spring loaded square cover. It's under the front of the seats (right under your knees).
