Actually, graphic designers are among the most reactionary computer users when it comes to change. Large numbers of them still use Quark 4 in Classic mode! Considering this fact, InDesign has been a resounding success to date and should continue to increase its share of the market going forward, especially if Quark continues to offer underwhelming upgrades like this one.

As a longtime Quark user when InDesign CS came out I upgraded from Photoshop and got the CS1 suite. I had a large project that I dedicated to using InDesign to create. I have not used Quark since. I did sign up for the Quark 7 beta program, and was underwhelmed at the improvements since Quark 4.

what they need to be telling us is why there isn't a vertical align option for text boxes in illustrator!!!! I mean seriously, you're going to add character and paragraph styles, but no vertical align??? w t f .. oh yeah, and how come the only app you can drag-adjust type attributes in is PS??? whats up with that??

As far as indesign features, they need to make the canvas function like PS where you can free-drag anywhere - I'm tired of finding the bottom of the page and having to zoom out to make my edit.. yeah, and illustrator style and symbol libraries should be cross-app compatible with ID..

Well, first: I HOPE to heck Adobe is writing InDesign 5 (or is it 6) slash CS3 for Macs with Intel processors!! since that's likely the only kind of Mac there will be when CS3 finally ships 13 months from now.

Second: MacBook Pro is hardly going to be the "latest hardware" when Adobe finally gets its act together and ships the Mac version of their CS products.

Just because something is good doesn't mean that there isn't room for improvement - with that logic Adobe shouldn't develop CS3 at all and we should just keep using CS2 for the rest of our lives. I only gripe because that particular features absence is annoying + in hopes that they continue to innovate. No slam on Adobe, I'm a beta-tester and have been using them since the beginning (ai88, ps1).
