Earthlink today announced that Sprint has purchased an additional 26 million shares of the company for $431 million ($16.58/share), increasing Sprint's stake in the company from 14.1 percent to 26.7 percent. In January, Apple announced a $200 million investment in Earthlink; since then, Earthlink's stock price has fallen nearly 50 percent.
