    LOL

Ditto. Or perhaps there are both interfaces?

On another note, Canon has revamped the ZR line with new models ranging from $799 to $999, likely to still be smaller than these Sony models, sport progressive scanning, etc.. Expect them this April, too. Man, things are really heating up. Now, where's my XL-1?? ;)

    Re: USB?!

"both of which offer USB connectivity"
    and two lines further:
    "a FireWire interface"

so they seem to have both
and depending on what version USB they implemented, it might not be good for anything else then reading the memorystick...

    firewire & usb

it contains Firewire for video transfers and USB for still transfers. The older TRV-20 had firewire and serial.

You'll probably want a memory stick reader anyhow, and those are USB.

The trv-30 does give you 1.5 Mpixel resolution though.

    USB and FireWire

As far as I can tell (can't actually find the new products up at Sony yet; bad link, MacNN), like previous models, the USB interface is still USB 1.1 for use with the Flash Memory reader for still shots; the FireWire (iLink) is still there for the digital video interface. That said, there's no reason at all why you can't move digital data at USB 1.1 speeds (1.2MB/sec max; yeah, right), you just can't do live editing and you'd need to wait all day for big video clips. I don't think we'll see many (if any) USB 2.0 products before Summer.

    USB 2.0

USB 2.0 is evil anyway. What we want is _firewire_ 2.0

    Anything else?

It doesn't sound like much of an upgrade from the previous models. Is there something else missing? A link to photos?

The major difference between the 20 and 30 I guess is the 1meg vs 1.5 megpixel means the digital zoom will be a bit higher quality.
