Epson introduces new Stylus Pro 5500

Epson also introduced its 13-inch wide-format, high-end ink jet printer, Stylus Pro 5500, which offers 2880 x 720 dpi resolution, variable-sized three-picoliter droplets and photographic quality output using six heads with 96 nozzles. The printer has a 250-sheet feeder as well as a USB, parallel and Epson Type-B expansion slots standard with optional cards available for 10/100 BaseT and FireWire. The $3,500 printer is now available with an optional $3,000 EFI Fiery Spark Professional RIP for creating color composites and proofs for press runs. Epson today also reduced pricing on its other professional printers, offering the Stylus Pro 5000 for $2,500; the 9000 for $7,000 and the 9500 for $8,000.
