Following lower-than-expected earnings for the most recent quarter, Reuters reports that Olympus is also shifting its focus of its digital camera business away from compact models to more high-end single lens reflex (SLR) cameras to boost profitability. The report says that Olympus is the world's fourth best-selling digital camera brand after Canon, Sony and Kodak, but is considered one of the weaker players in an industry suffering from slowing growth and cut-throat pricing.
