MacHack 2001: Keynote announced

updated 08:25 am EST, Thu February 8, 2001

MacHack: The Annual Conference for Leading Edge Developers, scheduled for June 21-23, 2001, has announced its keynote panel, made up of some of Apple's original team members...

: Andy Hertzfeld, an
engineer who designed peripherals and system software; Guy "Bud"
Tribble, an expert in object-oriented programming and user-interface
design; and Caroline Rose, who wrote and edited most of the first
three volumes of Inside Macintosh. "This trio of speakers is
empanelled not just as a retrospective on the Macintosh as we knew
it, but to look forward and share their visions of the future of
computing from Macintosh to MacOS X; from the Toolbox to Eazel's
Nautilus and everything in between."

    Well...

Linux is dead. Mac OS X will see to that.

What else is there to say?

    Dead?

Linux is so not dead. OS X might scratch linux a little, taking a few people like myself away from it, but nothing that's going to impact Linux as a whole. PPC Linux might get hurt, but there are plenty of stuck up wintel groupies out there who won't even think of it.

    I’ll bet they ...

    will.

They won’t be able to resist dual G4s running OS X., and having heavy duty MAC APPLICATIONS to do stuff with.

    Linux is SO dead.

    What linux needs

... is someone to give it a good universal GUI front end.

Anyone feel like porting the OS X face over? How hard could it be? Use a decompiler to make a 'psudo-source code', rewrite and reecompile at will! : ) (Can you tell I haven't done much programming since Commodore Machine Language!)

    OS X ROCKS

Why would anyone ever want to run linux when OS X kicks so much a**. I mean all those PC freaks won't know what they're missing...they'll probably stick w/ Linux, but anyone that know anything about a tight OS will go with OS X. Especially once Apple ships Quad Processor G4's....Oh DAMN
