Freeway 3.1: free update to Web design tool

updated 03:30 pm EST, Tue February 6, 2001

SoftPress Systems today released Freeway 3.1, a free update to its WYSIWIG Web-design software, which offers Flash integration as well as improved text support and JavaScript support.

Version 3.1 brings Flash integration with the ability to directly modify links and backgrounds in Flash files from within Freeway using the Actions palette. It also brings extended support for JavaScript and includes more dynamic actions. Freeway 3.1 also offers improved text processing for better handling of large documents and new support for Arabic script, which has now been added to the Page Encodings menu. Freeway is $300 with a 50% discount for education customers and cross-grades from Dreamweaver and GoLive. A light (LE) version is sold by MacMillan Publishing as "Web Page Construction Kit 6", and by Apple on its Online Education Store for K6 school levels.

Freeway has been fully localized for Japanese, French, German and Italian, and the company promises more localized versions in the future.
