Akamai quarterly results

Akamai, the Internet content delivery company with which Apple has a strategic alliance, yesterday reported a loss of $33.2 million, or 44 cents per share. Analysts had expected a loss of 40 cents per share according to First Call, while estimates compiled by Zacks stood at 48 cents per share. Apple currently owns 4.11 million shares of Akamai, which it purchased for $12.5 million. Akamai closed at $75.875 yesterday, giving Apple's stake a $311 million value. The stock has traded as high as $345.50 since the company went public in late October last year.
