Tech: Yahoo! earnings, iPaqs in demand

Evening tech news: Yahoo! posted a loss of $11.5 million for the quarter, beating analysts' reduced expectations, but announced that it would be cutting 420 jobs (12% of its workforce); Motorola is considering selling some of its noncore businesses in order to raise cash after the company posted its first quarterly loss in 15 years yesterday; and Compaq has announced that it will boost production of its iPaq handheld, as the company struggles to fulfill 600,000 to 700,000 backorders for the highly demanded device.

What about the monitors??
Apple still does not have an aeffective 21" monitor to fill th hole left by the 21 Studio Display that Schiller killed - or an answer to zero cross-platform sales because of the idiocy of the ADC display connector.
The lack of a 21 monitor is far more serious, as it means that roughly an additional $2,000 or every graphic workstation goes to SONY for purchase of a 21" and 17" monitors for a dual-screen configuration (as most artists use).
So, if they are looking at lower than expected earnings, they should not overlook that as well.
Maybe someday someone at Apple can pull their head out of a dark place and figure out a way to reinstate the 21" crt display.
