NewSoft launches PageManager 7, BizCard Reader, more

is the company's first document scanning, management and sharing solution for the Mac OS X. The document management solution incorporates NewSoft's OCR Engine, Presto! to convert paper-based documents and photos into digital files using any standard TWAIN or Plug-in compliant scanner. Retaining the format and layout of the original document with an extremely high level of accuracy, PageManager 7 enables users to quickly and easily scan, organize, edit, make notes and share valuable photos and documents. It also offers PDF export and automatic file backup and is available for Mac OS 9/X.



The company also debuted Presto! BizCard Reader 5, which it says easily and accurately converts business cards into an easily managed, easily shared, digital database. The included palm-sized scanner automatically retrieves vital contact data from any business card, and NewSoft's advanced OCR quickly and accurately assigns data into the appropriate fields for rapid search and retrieval. It supports seven languages including: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch, as well as all American and most European business card lay outs.



The intuitive software automatically recognizes the contact's first and last name, city and state, telephone, fax number, email, website address, and more, filing each in its own searchable category. Using the built-in "Search Manager" tool, users can quickly and easily retrieve their contact information based on any single data item; a "Smart Label Producer" can automatically format and print both lists and labels to any Avery-standard label. It is avialable now for Mac OS X 10.2/10.3 for $130.



NewSoft also launched its new digital photo slideshow suite, Presto! PhotoDisc. Now Mac OS X compatible, the application includes ready-to-use templates and a step-by-step workflow create a dynamic slide show from any photo collection in three quick steps. Users can burn their slideshows to DVD, SVCD or VCD and include customized text and motion effects, attach music files, import sound effects and record an audio commentary for each slide (30 seconds). PhotoDisc supports a broad range of standard media formats including: CD-R/RW, DVD-/+R, DVD-/+RW, and the new double layer DVD+R format. It is available for $40 and runs on any G4-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.2.6.
