Free iTunes sampler

Apple is offering iPod owners thirteen free songs on the iTunes music store. Many readers report discovering the offer, called "iTunes New Music Sampler," when restoring their iPod using the update utility. It is likely that purchasers of iPods will also be greeted with the offer when they configure their new iPod.

Unless you like rap, the music "Sampler" pretty much sucks.

4. Lonely - Akon
5. Golden Touch - Razorlight
6. Every Time You Go Away - Brian McKnight

Oh, and you're welcome.

There is no way to get the songs since it doesn't show up in the Music Store.

Doing a "restore" is simple. You just have to back up your own personal data files. Your songs will still be re-sync when you connect the iPod and launch iTunes. Finally any calendar and contacts will be written back to the iPod via your iSync.

You should be back with the same old iPod contents in a few minutes.

Thanks leonpro!

I guess they are free, so I'll likely do it - but the 3921 songs in my library are going to take a bit more than a few mintues - 17.54 GB in what, 20 mintues?

Thanks again for the info.

Not in UK

01/06, 05:15am reply

Just reset my iPod using the November update utility - didn't get anything for free :( Really quite disappointed, not to mention annoyed at having wasted so long waiting for all my songs to copy back over! I did the reset, unplugged my iPod and plugged it back in again so the computer would recognise it.

After the configuration bit where you name the iPod, I got redirected to the ITMS which had a different banner at the top welcoming me to using iPods etc etc and offering a link to download this week's crappy free download of the week. Nothing more than that though.

You mileage may vary though as I'm in the UK. Please let us know if you're also in the UK and actually manage to get the freebies.
