Most products were cut by £50, including Apple's dated PowerBook line: "The pro-level PowerBooks feature price cuts across the range. The entry-level 12-inch Combo model now costs £1,099 – down £50 from £1,149. £50 is also taken from the SuperDrive version of the 12-inch PowerBook., which is now priced at £1,249. The 15-inch PowerBooks also see £50 price cuts. The 1.33GHz Combo model costs £1,349, and the 1.5GHz SuperDrive version is priced at £1,699. Ditto Here...

They've also lowered the price on all Powermacs in Canada. The high end model, which I purchased and received two weeks ago is down by $400. The low end and mid-range models have been cut by $300 each. I didn't keep a record of the prices on models other than the one I bought, but as best as I can recall, those, aside from the monitor price cuts, are the Canadian counterparts to the UK price reductions.

Before anyone starts reading "upcoming spec change" into this, I'm almost sure that these are adjustments for the recent fall in the American dollar and not a heralding of a speed jump and hence stock clearance prices. I waited 3 weeks for my Powermac, so I'm convinced they're not overstocked. For months as the American dollar slipped Canadians and others still paid for over-priced Macs, on a currency exchange basis that is. Apple did nothing to correct for the weakening American dollar and this correction was long overdue. This might hurt their bottom line, but increased sales will likely make up the difference.

That is not to say there won't be a change in the Powermac lineup, but this probably isn't a clue pointing to any revision of the line-up.

    That's it...
