MacNN must be in a hurry to get to bed. You'd think they could say a little more about iTMS Canada, like that the songs are 99¢ Canadian. Shortest MacNN article EVER.
I'm curious as to how big the catalog is. I bought U2 How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb and George Michael's Amazing, but was disappointed that I couldn't find Bryan Adams Open Road.
Well it's finally here and I'll be happy that my girlfriend can stop asking me "is it here yet?". Here's to hoping that Ireland, Australia and Japan are not far behind and that Apple will bring the store to our friends south of the U.S. border: Mexico and South America.
Well, I'm off to spend some money...

But with so much anticipation and missed opening, it seems anti-climactic. Now, onto slimmin' down my credit limit....woohoooo!

launched, part 1?

I just browsed, selected and purchased and maaan it's sweeet. But I feel a lot of titles are missing from there, if you compare to the US itms catalog. Would this be related to the macosrumors story about legal deals taking effect 01-01-05? I feel the selection will bloom with the new year.
Anyway, I'm not complaining, it's already a blast to have that baby!

...good to be Canadian...

Woohoo! I'm over in the uk, and we pay 79 pence a track here. At the Canada store it's 45 pence a track. It's ever cheaper than the States: only 85 cents US!
Just switched over to my Canadian credit card :)
Don't worry, they'll put plenty more albums online -- it's been the same for every new store.

FINALLY!!

Yeah, now I can browse an iTMS without having the annoying dialogue box come up every few minutes (approx. every fifth song) to sign in and then reject any attempt to sign in due to being outside the U.S.
I can now preview songs in iTMS and build play lists of desired songs that I can't afford before using Acquisition, BitTorrent, Azureus, LimeWire, etc., to download the songs that iTMS has helped me confirm I want. As long as it's still legal in Canada, I'm going to use filesharing avenues unless it takes forever to download a desired song/album or only crappy quality files dominate GNUtella and other P2P networks.
If I ever strike it rich or the Supreme Court of Canada changes its mind following a future change in laws, I'll actually use my credit card on iTMS.
Other than no longer being plagued with the annoying dialogue box, I can now direct my Windows-using family members to iTMS Canada to see what's good about Apple. Interestingly, my 37-year-old little sister just asked what on earth an iPod is, anyway. With iTMS Canada here, iPod sales should be significantly boosted, and that's what matters more than anything else, other than having those sales lead users to seriously consider buying a Mac next.

R&B/Soul music limited
12/02, 04:18am reply
Just as I had feared, there is only a tiny fraction of R&B/Soul music available. I guess our utter lack of a Black subculture, other than French-speaking Haitians, is again limiting our choice of good music. Before Michael Jackson's Thriller album came out, we had only a little Afro-American music on the radio waves and the R&B/Soul shelves of music stores were so short and almost empty until about 1983, when a boom occurred. Luther Vandross was unknown here throughout the 1980s, and I had a better exposure to that favorite of all music in Japan than in Canada.
