Tech: MS Websites, TFT prices, Java for .NET

updated 04:23 pm EST, Thu January 25, 2001

Evening tech news: Microsoft's web sites were down again today, less than 24 hours after the software maker said it had fixed a technical error that prevented millions of users from reaching its most popular online destinations; Prices of all 12.1-inch TFT LCDs, found in iBooks, will soon fall to record low levels, after larger TFT LCDs reached record lows in the second half of 2000; and Microsoft has released a new set of tools for Java programmers to preserve, enhance and migrate Java language projects onto the Microsoft .NET platform."

    Net Outages

Is there any particular reason that both times when Microsoft had outages, that access to the web via Earthlink was also cut off? I'd generally get DNS related errors (which I believe was what MS clamied was their problem yesterday). My settings are what Earthlink gave me, would Earthlink and MS be sharing DNS resources? If Earthlink's outages were a side effect a DoS attack against MS, that suggests yesterdays MS outage was the results of a DoS attack and NOT an "internal error" as MS claims.
