Kevin Hayes, who contacted Xircom about Mac OS X drivers for its USB-to-serial adapters, notes that the company has no plans for OS X support, according to a note from the comapny: "Unfortunately, we will not have any OS X drivers. The only way the device is going to work is through the Classic environment of OS X." Hayes has also contacted Keyspan about its PDA adapter, but so far, no response.

f*** Xircom
Xircom just got bought by some big PC company... I forgot who... Xircom is a joke and anyone who bought there *hit is going to be screwed.... and that sucks... keep in mind NOT TO PURCHASE anything from (ex)PC manufacturers that switch to or bring things to the MAC because of the new "hype" around Apple's market.

Typical Lazy Companies
Most to the work with USB is handled by the USB API's anyone company that tells you they don't want to support a device as simple as a USB Serial adapter is yanking your chain. Flee from that company and never go back. I could understand if this was a product with many specific features but a Serial Adapter??? Xircom is flat out being lazy.

Intel bought Xircom
I think Intel bought Xircom. That might explain their less than enthusiastic Mac support.

Doesn't surprise me
Intel did buy Xircom. Unfortunately Xircom bought Entrega... which was in my mind a good Macintosh company. Now I'm stuck with a USB dock (serial, 2 USB ports and a SCSI adapter) that will be supported by Intel. Yeah, right (at least it works in 9.1).

sleek PDA
Have u seen Xircom's PDA though? just the size of a credit card, docks into the PC card slot of notebooks... I wish they'd come up with Mac OS drivers for that thing, I'd buy it right away.

Keyspan SX Pro drivers?
I wrote to Keyspan some time ago requesting information about whether or not they will eventually support their SX Pro Serial Port card on OS X. As expected -- no answer from them.

read the press release
from the keyspan site linked to above:
"We are excited about Mac OS X and are committed to its success", stated Mike Ridenhour, president at Keyspan. "Many Macintosh applications now depend upon our PCI serial cards and USB serial adapters to communicate with serial devices. We intend to make the migration to Mac OS X as easy as possible for our developer partners and for our end users."
