EuroiTunes glitches

Apple's launch of iTunes in Europe yesterday (see , according to The Inquirer: "when some British punters tried to buy the service online with their quaint UK switch cards, the service struck a snag. Although the Imode site said it took Switch, some found it didn’t like them at all."

iMode?

Isn't iMode the japanese 2.5G mobile phone service? What does this have to do with anything? Does the 'Inquirer' actually possess a single clue?

A mate with a Switch card is having no problems running up all sorts of debt, so even if their expert journo has made a mistake, it's still wrong.

Duh.

What's quaint about a Switch card? Just another debit card. i get sick of people describing anything British as quaint. The journalist who wrote this 'superb' article can KM (quaint British) A.

One did, One didn't

Tried signing up with one switch card (Halifax) which didn't work, but then tried a second (HSBC) which did work.

Account activated and downloading successfully.

Anyone else experiencing problems with specific banks?

Charged wrongly?

06/16, 09:19am reply

Arse, sorry I hit the go button a little prematurely.

Slightly off topic, bought a track with my Visa debit card to see what all the fuss was about and seem to have been debited 5x£0.79. Will have to wait for statement for confirmation, but it did take several goes before it would accept my card details. Did it debit me each time the details failed???

Not a great start, and half the stuff I looked for wasn't there either :o(

Switch is being phased out over the next two years, it's becoming Maestro.

Mine did too...

My visa didn't work so I switched to my Switch and it seems fine.

Tried to get the All Saints album (iTMS is the music version of the brown paper bag for certain magazines), anyway, it said it wasn't available anymore....

Man, what is it with Apple. They just seem to have nothing but trouble with this whole 'switch' thing.

iTunes Launch?

I had always thought that iTunes had been available for quite a while in Europe.

Oh, you mean the iTunes Music Store. Don't worry, it's only a headline. No need to be accurate.

I think The Inquirer journalist was making a joke, implying that Apple thinks Switch is quaint because it's British. The Inquirer is a British mag, run by British journalists (surely the word 'punter' was a clue?). But mixing up 'Imode' and 'iTunes' was a bit daft: they've obviously cut the editorial budget a little too much and forgot to employ a sub.
