Oh, and did they go back and change his compensation numbers for a couple of years ago when he got the original options which he traded for this $75 million.
He certainly deserves a lot of credit for bringing Apple back from quasi-death, but let's not forget that he hasn't had any success at increasing market share, a critical factor for Apple's long-term survival and profitability.
I'm not sure this is the kind of performance that commands the highest CEO compensation in the U.S...
The truth is there is this big dick contest between all these high-powered, high-tech CEOs (Ellison, Jobs, etc...) and they all have to have more than the next. Ellison got a Citation IV, Jobs had to have a Citation V. The big losers in this game are the shareholders and the employees. All these millions would have paid the salaries of quite a few employees who have been let go. Shame.
Ok, I guess I'm a heretic among my political and religious peers, but the American business model seems to be slash, burn, eject employees, accept large bailout package. Jobs is plainly not taking that approach, but it bugs me that so many do and still get rewarded for it.
Ok, enough off-topic ramblings. Back to the Mac.

Gee, if 8 years ago someone said "Apple has the same or lower market share it does now!", they'd assume it was dead. It's not.
Guess what? It's ok - we'll survive.

I for one was not aware steve made that much. Does anyone know how much he makes with PIXAR? what about under the table from Goofy & Co.?
Either way, I still love the OSXperience. Anything to keep me from going XP, which is a sad attempt at mimicking OSX, imho.
